STRUCTURED COURSES

 

The CSRTI, Berhampore conducts one Structured Courses i.e., Post Graduate Diploma in Sericulture (PGDS) which is affiliated to University of Kalyani from 2007-08. (MOU signed between University of Kalyani and CSR&TI, Berhampore) For admission to PGDS, the Institute issues the admission notification in the leading Newspapers and follows all the procedures of admission as per norms of University of Kalyani. The prospectus of the same is available in the Institute website (www.csrtiber.res.in) and also can be obtained by post by payment of Rs.50/= through demand draft in favour of Director, CSR & TI, Berhampore along with self addressed stamped envelope of Rs.30/= .

 

Post Graduate Diploma in Sericulture (PGDS)

 

Objectives:

 

            To generate a steady stream of professionally competent Post-graduates for meeting out the manpower requirement of sericulture industry at various levels.

 

About the course:

 

The course commences from 1st July every year and is conducted in semester scheme that completed by two semesters. The course is open to the Bio-science Graduates from the recognized Universities. 

 

Duration: The training will be for a period of 15-months including 3-months intensive Practical Training (IPT)/Dissertation/Project work.

 

Intake: Total intake is 40 students which include 20 candidates from Directorate of Sericulture of different states and another 20 seats for fresh candidates which can be filled up on convertible basis.

 

Qualification: Candidates who are possessing B.Sc. degree with Sericulture, Zoology, Botany, Biochemistry or Agriculture as electives / optionals with a minimum of 45% marks (40% in case of SC &ST) in aggregate may apply in the prescribed form.

 

Age limit: Maximum of 50 Years as on the date of commencement of the course for in-service candidates and minimum 21 years for the fresh candidates.

 

Fee Structure: Sponsored by DOS: Rs.5000/-, Sponsored by NGO  : Rs.7,500/- and others : Rs.10,000/-. In addition to that a sum of Rs. 5000/- only to be borne by the concerned for Study Tour.

 

Course Content: Introductory Sericulture, Mulberry Cultivation, Mulberry &Silkworm crop protection, Mulberry physiology, Mulberry & Silkworm Breeding and Genetics, Silkworm Anatomy & Physiology, Silkworm seed production, Rearing and Post Cocoon Technologies, Extension Management, Economics & Statistics, Hands on Computer and Marketing.
